Keen to see monkeys during your Uganda holiday? Little Monkey Camp, on the edge of Kibale National Park, has its name for a reason – guests often spot the primates from right here on the campground.

Curious about what it’s like to spend a few days immersed in the jungle? We’re here to help you get ready! Here you’ll find everything you need to know before arriving at Little Monkey Camp—from what to expect in our beautiful, natural setting to details about our location, dining and transportation options. Let us guide you through some helpful tips and answers to common questions, so you can make the most of your holiday.

WHO WE ARE AND HOW WE WORK

The Little Monkey Camp family is a close-knit team made up of friends and families from the local villages. We lovingly care for our place, creating a warm and welcoming environment for your stay. While we never envisioned becoming a traditional hotel, we’re committed to offering a relaxing and joyful experience.

You won’t find a 24/7 reception here, but we’re available daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. to assist you with anything you need. Our security officer is also present throughout the night for added peace of mind.

If you’d like daily cleaning, simply let us know when you check in or in the morning—we respect your privacy and only enter your cottage with your permission.

We also offer activities and packages inspired by local traditions, giving you an opportunity to connect with the rich culture of the area. These experiences are beloved by our guests and are the perfect way to enhance your stay.

FIRST TIME IN THE JUNGLE?

Living by the forest edge, we’re deeply connected to the natural surroundings. While we maintain the highest cleaning standards, you might occasionally share your space with a curious insect, furry caterpillar, frog, snake, or even a mouse. Please consider this before booking and ensure you’re comfortable with the possibility of these friendly encounters. If you’re seeking a true immersion in nature, this is the place for you!

Fun fact: Did you know a spider can weave a new web in less than an hour? Despite our best efforts to keep the house pristine, you may still come across a few spiders, bugs, or mosquitoes – natural part of the environment. If this makes you uneasy, you may prefer a different type of accommodation.

LITTLE MONKEY BISTRO

Craving something delicious without the hassle of cooking or heading out? Little Monkey Bistro has you covered! We offer a unique kitchen concept with freshly prepared meals delivered directly to your cottage. Enjoy breakfast (included in your stay), lunch, and dinner in the privacy of your space, surrounded by nature.

Every meal is thoughtfully served to you in your cottage. A menu will be available in your room, and we’re happy to send it to you upon request before your arrival.

The Bistro is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Along with our delicious meals, we also offer cold beers, soft drinks and wines.

LOCATION

Please note, we are located over 5 hours drive from Kampala or Entebbe International Airport. The closest city is Fort Portal, a 30-minute drive away. Here, you won’t find the usual nightlife—no bars, clubs, or coffee shops with imported goods. We’ve chosen this serene location to offer a true escape, surrounded by the forest, coffee plantation and the peaceful sound of nature.

AIRPORT PICK & DROP

Save yourself from the stress of searching for transportation to your hotel/residence from the airport and book a private transfer with us. You don’t need to worry about the unreliable, uncomfortable and untimely public means as you can be guaranteed you will be picked up on time and dropped off to the hotel/ residence in time.

All we require from you are your flight details (arrival time) and hotel or residence you are headed to and vice versa if you require a drop off at the airport.

Little Monkey Camp offers a unique blend of nature, wildlife, and cultural experiences, making it an ideal base for exploring Kibale National Park and the surrounding area.
